The Wire2Wolves Project was introduced by The Foundation to celebrate the rich history of Warrington Rugby League Club and their transition from ‘Wire’ to’ Wolves.’
Funding was received from The Heritage Lottery Fund to create an interactive timeline to encompass the journey of the Warrington Club from it’s inception in 1876 up to the present day, including a timeline of events across the town. The timeline features the names and heritage numbers to mark each player’s place in the Club’s history and can be found in the concourse in the South Stand at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.
The Wire2Wolves Project has had a great impact on people all across Warrington and the surrounding areas, allowing them to share their memories and experiences of their beloved rugby club. The timeline has proved to be an excellent educational tool, not only for local establishments but also for historical groups and community groups.
Additional funding is always being actively sought to develop further and continue the projects as today’s news and achievements quickly become tomorrow’s memories.
